What we preserve
Hirono Golf Club opened in 1932 on a wooded hillside in Miki, Hyogo, from a routing by the English architect Charles H. Alison during his 1930–1931 consulting trip to Japan. The site's natural pine forest, rolling terrain, and brooks gave Alison the canvas for the deepest, most strategic bunkering on any Japanese course of its generation — the now-iconic 'Alison bunker' style was named for the work he did here and at nearby Naruo and Kawana. Hirono has been ranked #1 in Japan by every major panel since the rankings began, and is widely regarded as one of the finest pre-war classical courses in Asia. Membership is strictly invitational; public play is not available.
