What we preserve
Karuizawa Golf Club opened in 1929 as the resort club for the Karuizawa highland community — the summer-retreat town in Nagano Prefecture frequented by Tokyo's elite since the Meiji era. The 18-hole routing sits at roughly 1,000 m elevation among native birch and larch forests, with cool summer playing conditions even in August. The club is one of the oldest highland courses in Japan and remains member-only, though it is closely associated with the broader Karuizawa golf scene that now includes the Karuizawa 72 complex and several other resort courses.
