Heritage

What we preserve

The Fuji Course at Kawana opened in 1936 on the cliffs above Sagami Bay on the Izu Peninsula, designed by Charles H. Alison for the Okura hotel group. The routing climbs and falls along the Pacific cliffs, with several holes playing directly toward Mount Fuji on a clear day — the par-4 15th, dropping to a fairway framed by ocean and the mountain in the distance, is one of the most photographed holes in Asian golf. Kawana is one of the few Alison courses in Japan accessible to non-members: stays at the Kawana Hotel include playing rights on the Fuji Course.
