The course

Four nines across the hills above Sakai — the largest club in southern Osaka, opened in 1966 to a Teruo Sugihara design.

Amanosan Country Club spreads 36 holes over 155 hectares of hill country between Sakai and Kawachinagano. Each nine has its own character: South is the championship nine, routed through preserved old-growth forest; East looks out to Mt. Ikoma, Mt. Katsuragi and Mt. Kongō, with water in play and cherry blossom in spring; North is the technical nine, tree-lined with subtle movement in the fairways; West plays broad and open from raised tees with Osaka Bay below, and saves its hardest three holes for the finish. As a members' club, Amanosan can be booked only for rounds played with a PRESERVE staff member.
